Abstract:
In-flight turbulence remains a significant operational problem for the aviation industry. Estimates of annual costs to the major U.S. commercial airlines range in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Focused research and development programs sponsored by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the National Aeronautics and Space Administrations are making significant headway in providing accurate and timely strategic and tactical turbulence products to the aviation users.
