Future Heavy Duty Diesel Lubricants For Low Emission Engines 2001-01-3768

Meeting future emission legislation for heavy duty diesel engines is expected to require the use of various exhaust after-treatment systems. In order to maintain their functionality these devices may not tolerate some of the key elements used in lubricant formulations today: sulfur, phosphorus and sulfated ash.
In this paper, we discuss the excellent performance and ramifications of prototype lubricants meeting some possible requirements for sulfur, phosphorus and sulfated ash.
