Emulsified Diesel - an Immediate and Effective Solution for Diesel Exhaust Emission Reduction 2001-28-0037
Emissions of Particulate Matter (PM) and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) from diesel engines degrade air quality, especially in city environments. Considering very high proportion of diesel engines in India, there is an immediate need to reduce both PM and NOx emissions from diesel engines.
Unlike many emission control technologies, water blended diesel fuels offer several unique advantages including instantaneous reductions in emissions from both old and new generations of diesel engines without the need for engine or hardware modification.
Emulsified diesels are already recognised for their emission control capabilities and are in use in various countries like U.S.A, United Kingdom, Italy and France.
Emulsified diesel fuels provide an effective solution for the immediate improvement in air quality especially in India, where a large population of diesel engines are over 15 years old. The features, which make emulsified diesel fuel an effective option for emission control and air quality improvement are discussed.
