Radio Technologies for Future Telematic Systems for Foresight Vehicles 2002-01-0818

Telematic systems are a key technological component of future intelligent road networks. Operation at 63 GHz is attractive because of the potential for high bandwidths (offering multiple and / or data-rich applications) and the control of radio propagation by exploitation of atmospheric attenuation. Implementation of telematic systems will require demonstration of a number of mm-wave technologies at an acceptable price per unit. This paper describes the design, manufacture and demonstration of a variety of antennas for 63GHz transmissions.
