Study Regarding the Necessity of Vehicle Calibration According to the Peculiarities of the Central and East European Markets 2002-01-2170

For most of the Central and East European (CEE) countries, the evaluation of the environment factors (with the 4 characteristic seasons), of the usage conditions of the car fleet and of the specific legislative framework is still a confusing subject, because of lack of documentation and standardization in this field. Or, under the present conditions, when these countries also show a unanimous desire for the adhesion to the European pollution regulations, for the specialists in calibration of the Engine Management Systems (EMS) it is very important to know what are the peculiarities of these countries. Otherwise, it is possible that unacceptable surprises may appear, such as:
  • The vehicle doesn't have an optimized fuel consumption for the concrete usage;
  • The real exhaust emissions are above the official confirmed expectations (according to the UN-ECE Regulation no. 83), providing thus a false environment protection;
  • The driveability can be affected significantly, especially regarding the idle stability and the response, the cold startability (for extreme conditions) and the breaking reaction.
