Improved Energy Conversion Efficiency of Sabathè-Type Engine (Theoretical Prediction in not a Combustion Chamber but an Engine) 2002-01-2195

The new improved energy conversion efficiency has been requested instead of the traditional theoretical thermal efficiency [ηth] [1]. For the efficiency in a combustion chamber, three new ideas have been adopted [2] [3]; (1) the basic available energy (quantity), (2) the total energy supplied instead of heat supplied and (3) the energy flow including energy for compression work in a whole engine. The new energy conversion efficiency is termed “the [A-base] energy (conversion) efficiency [ηENd]”. And more, the provisional-net wok as the fourth new idea [2] [3] is adopted that is the difference between theoretical work and energy for compression work for a next cycle. And, “the provisional-net energy conversion efficiency (d) [ηPNd]” [2] [3] is newly taken up from it. As a result, the theoretical and the provisional-net result of the Sabathè-type engine are obtained, and, the latter shows the theoretical prediction of the performance of heavy-duty diesel engines in which the improvement advances [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] especially.
