Tests for Characterizing Sheet Coating Damage and its Influence on Tool Pollution and Wear 2003-01-2851
Customer's requirements concerning products properties are more and more severe, particularly for automotive industry. In parallel, time to develop new cars has significantly decreased. These two points have a direct influence on the way to develop new steel sheet products, the aim being to be in a perfect accordance with car manufacturers needs. One of the consequences for steel makers is to develop new coatings with improved functionalities, which have naturally consequences on the stamping process. The aim of this paper is to describe a methodology allowing to predict, in an relevant way, the coatings inclination to disturb industrial forming operations through tool pollution and wear.
