Merging Biomechanical Models of the Shoulder with Digital Human Modeling 2004-01-2166

Digital human models have recently gained widespread use in the area of workplace design and evaluation. Additionally, the creation of biomechanical models to describe loading in the human shoulder allows analysis of the impact of performing tasks on the shoulder. Through the integration of these dual technologies, it is possible to evaluate prospective job designs with respect to their influence on the loading of the shoulder. In this paper the methodology of this integration as well as the utility of the finished analysis tool are addressed.
