Since the beginning of the automotive industry the activity of capturing and managing the requirements has been major challenge for the product development engineering organizations. During the last quarter of the twentieth century, computer based systems have introduced new solutions for many systems limitations, but also have made the requirement management much more complex. A complete understanding of the product’s requirements is essential for product development effort to succeed. The engineering organizations that have given the right magnitude to this process are able to reduce development costs, improve quality and add value to the product for customers and suppliers.
