Pneumatic Start-Stop System 2007-01-2767

With a growing worry about greenhouse effect many vehicle systems are being studied such as electric, hybrids and start-stop to give them contribution to the environmental health.
One problem found on the systems mentioned above is the battery life and size that has to be over dimensioned compared with regular cars to supply enough power to the electric motor to move the car in the electric and hybrid systems or start many times the engine on start-stop system.
This paper brings an alternative proposal for start-stop system to solve this problem using pneumatic starter with regenerative braking.
The idea is to use proven technologies (pneumatic starters) in a new way to improve upon existing start-stop systems.
