Double A-Arm Suspension for Cross-Country Racing 2007-01-2813

Cross-Country racing is becoming increasingly popular throughout the world, the race to Dakar being the most famous, having started in 1979[1].
These vehicles race through a variety of rugged terrain: sand dunes, rocky or muddy roads and river crossings. As any other off-road racing application, the suspension requires very long travel; usually more than double the travel of a typical passenger vehicle.
A double A-arm suspension suitable for this kind of application is discussed, some performance parameters are chosen and a simulation is performed.
