Resolving Color Breakup of Projection-Type LED Headlamp by using a Hybrid Lens 2008-01-0342

In this paper, color breakup around the light intensity distribution of a Light Emitting Diode (LED) headlamp was investigated. Since refractive index dispersion is inherent with any lens material, the chromatic aberration of conventional projector lenses makes colors appear within the light intensity distribution. The color breakup problem was improved by using a Hybrid Lens. The transmission efficiency problem of this Hybrid Lens was also improved.
