Integrated Design of Vehicle Suspension and Braking Systems Based on Layered Coordinated Control (LCC) Strategy 2008-01-1152

This paper addresses the problems of integrated control of active suspension system (ASS) and anti-lock braking system (ABS). A layered coordinated control (LCC) strategy for chassis system that is divided into upper and bottom layer control parts is produced. The bottom controllers including suspension and braking system controllers are used to carry out different control tasks and achieve performance indices of subsystems. Based on LCC strategy, the upper coordinated controller (UCC) is used to receive decision-making information coming from bottom controllers and modifies the decision-making of bottom controllers, aiming at improving whole vehicle synthesis performance. This control strategy is different from conventional integrated control method. It is implemented under the Matlab/Simulink software environment. The simulation results show that chassis system based on LCC strategy achieves better performance of ride comfort and brake.
