TRU with Low Input Voltage Boost for 28VDC Aircraft Power Systems 2008-01-2889

United States military aircraft have increasing demand for 28VDC power required to drive modern avionics, mission equipments, and ordinance systems. Conventional unregulated TRUs are unable to provide a minimum output voltage of 20VDC (minimum was requested by the customer instead of the 18 VDC standard as defined in MIL-STD-704F) when subjected to the input under voltage transients, defined in MIL-STD-704F, in addition to meeting steady state requirements. As the voltage falls below 18 VDC, military aircraft mission equipment may become non-functional or reset when subjected to such an under voltage condition.
Avionic Instruments, LLC has developed a hybrid variant of conventional TRU & regulated TRU that addresses specifically minimum output voltage requirements during input under voltage transients. This type of TRU has been developed specifically for an airplane manufacturer for military applications.
