Abstract:
VPX offers with its reliable serial switched fabric functionality the ideal preconditions to fulfill all requirements of modern rugged avionics applications and is in addition a successor of the proven VME technology so most parts of the new standard are already validated and daily practice approved. With this extreme positive start position VPX is expected to become the major standard for high speed avionics communication via backplane for the several decades to come. What are the benefits and what is the status quo of system level standardization today? (November 2009).
