Quasi-Continuously-Variable Transmission Provides Hydraulic Regenerative Braking for Passenger Cars, Trucks, and Buses 2014-01-1717
A hydro-mechanical transmission is described that approximates the “gearing” performance of a continuously variable transmission and incorporates all functions required for hydraulic regenerative braking. Other characteristics such as efficiency, noise, and responsiveness, match or exceed that of present day conventional automatic transmissions. Performance and physical sizing are shown for passenger vehicle, bus and truck transmissions.
