Abstract:
The latest aircraft manufacturing methods require flexible automation solutions with minimal permanent impact on the manufacturing facility. Electroimpact’s Accurate Mobile Robot technology provides a basis for mobile, flexible automation while maintaining the high-accuracy performance required by aerospace manufacturing. Providing an accurate, mobile automation platform poses a number of mechanical design challenges as well as special considerations in machine control, calibration, and error compensation using mathematical modeling. This paper discusses the particulars of designing and controlling an accurate mobile robot automation system as well as the performance of delivered mobile robot automation solutions.
