Abstract:
Efficiently manufacturing one-piece AFP spars in the final shape requires machines capable of high acceleration and speed. Going around the small radius quickly requires high acceleration and the large size of the part requires high speed. With high material lay-down rates, process reliability becomes increasingly significant on floor-to-floor production rates. Electroimpact offers reliability of less than one tow error in 16,000 tows. High reliability reduces re-work and inspection time which further improves floor to floor rate.
