As the explosion proof diesel engine (EPD) of underground trackless tyred vehicle dynamic mechanical device， due to its good dynamic and economic performance the diesel has been widely applied. The flame arrester can prevent the intake and exhaust system from tempering, but the increased resistance will seriously affect the performance of diesel. The bench test of explosion proof diesel engine on intake and exhaust system is conducted, analysing the effect of the exhaust resistance under different speeds of diesel engine on the power, economy and emission of TY4100QFB type diesel engines with equivalent flow area， different specifications of corrugated / flat flame-arrester in the course of external characteristics. The test results show, on account of the large porosity ratio, the corrugated flame arrester has a significant effect on reducing the intake and exhaust resistance, optimizing combustion, reducing NOx, CO, PM. What is more, the emissions of NOx, CO, PM averagely declien by 6.6%、7.45%、10.73% respectively, but Torque and fuel consumption has no obvious change. At the same time, the cooling water tank has a certain trapped effect on PM and NOx, with an average decline by 6.05%、10.56%. Through the comparison of the FLUENT fluid simulation on temperature and pressure field with experimental results, the results show that the corrugated flame arrester performs better on reducing the exhaust back pressure and reducing emissions than flat flame arrest and ensures the explosion-proof effect. Therefore, the design size and weight of the corrugated flame-arrester can be reduced.
