This paper presents the feasibility study of the WLTC (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test cycle) used for the testing of Chinese Light-duty Vehicles. First, the key steps and the technical methods of the development process of WLTC are summarized. Second, the operation data of 3000 vehicles in 40 typical cities of China were collected throughout the year. Then, 40 kinds of the characteristics of the acquisition data were compared with the characteristics of WLTC. Finally, 12 small-displacement and low power vehicles were tested under WLTC. The result show that there are obviously difference between WLTC and Chinese reality, and it is difficult for some small-displacement vehicles to track the WLTC cycle. If Chinese government choose to use WLTC, the weight coefficient of different speed phases is needed.
