DEVELOPMENTS IN AIRCRAFT TURBINE LUBRICANTS 580169

Aircraft gas turbine engine lubricants have kept pace with engine development. Early jet engines used light petroleum base oils. Current high performance engines operate on synthetic base oils. Field experience has been generally satisfactory with these lubricants. Our future engines will require oils capable of operating at extreme temperatures (400°F and higher bulk oil temperatures).
