New Dynamometer Truck for U. S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, Yuma Test Station 630012
This paper describes in detail a 55,000 lb wheeled dynamometer truck built for the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command at Yuma, Ariz. Areas given special consideration are the power train, power absorption equipment, drawbar measurement, fiber glass cab construction, and data recording equipment. Particular attention is given to the extensive use of off-the-shelf military and commercial equipment in this specialized vehicle, the unique use of a Doppler radar unit for road speed measurements, and the methods used that make possible the delivery of this vehicle 10 months from the date of the contract.
