Small, High-Speed, Two-Stroke Cycle Diesels Can Match Their Big Brothers 630018
The McCulloch Corp. has developed a new diesel outboard motor to supply more efficient and reliable work boat power for the international market. Development progressed from a 9 hp, 2 cyl version using unit injectors to a 15 hp, 3 cyl unit using a distributor type injection system. With a bsfc of 0.46 lb/bhp-hr and an output of 0.46 hp/cu in., the resulting engine has performance characteristics that match many much larger engines.
