Reactivation of Trucks Following Outdoor Storage 630154

This paper describes a 14, 000 mile road test conducted by the Canadian Army on a truck fleet to determine the effectiveness of the preservative techniques and materials and the operational life of the components and lubricants after long term, outdoor storage (6-8 years). Periodic exercising of vehicles alleviates the problems expected with vehicles subjected to long term, outdoor storage. Upon reactivation, the vehicles tested provided adequate serviceability. This paper describes tests performed on components that are subject to deterioration with age.
