Jet Assist for Turbocharged Marine Diesels 630164

This paper discusses the use of jet assist to overcome deficiencies of a turbocharger at times when it is unable to deliver sufficient air to an engine for the fuel required. The jet assist can be divided into two classifications-compressor side assist or turbine side assist.
Testing done by Nordberg, using the partial admission, the pulse converter, and constant pressure is reviewed. Technical data and test results on engines using jet assists are presented.
