Truck Tires — Effects of Design and Construction on Wear and Noise 630515
To satisfy the various functional requirements that exist for truck tires, it is necessary to compromise the design of the tread. This paper discusses the effect of tire tread design and tire construction on tread wear and noise. Certain tire design approaches, such as the use of inextensible tread belts for tread wear and the application of variable pitch tread designs for noise, which do not necessarily compromise the ability of the tread to satisfy its other functional requirements, are also discussed.
