Nordel™ in Automotive Applications 640046

This paper discusses the physical properties of ethylene-propylene terpolymers and suggests areas of probable use in the automotive field. Analysis of its physical properties and the economics of compounding and manufacturing indicate that Nordel* offers solutions to many of the problems encountered in automotive rubber products. Evaluation of weatherstripping, channels, and seals promises wide applicability in body sealing applications, and testing also indicates uses in chassis and underhood parts. Analysis of dynamic properties makes it an excellent candidate as a vibration isolator over the range of temperatures and frequencies of importance in automotive engine and body mounting.
