Vehicle Handling: Its Dependence Upon Vehicle Parameters 640108

This paper discusses several aspects of the vehicle directional control problem: steady state characteristics, nonlinear tire forces, the axis system and mathematical model which are used for the analysis, linear transient response, path response, and nonlinear response. These separate aspects are then combined in a discussion of the effects of typical chassis parameter changes on the vehicle control response.
