Designing Reliability into Jet Transport Hydraulic Systems 640150
This paper summarizes current jet hydraulic experience, types and relative frequency of failures encountered, and gives some of the reasons therefor.
Each major area of system design is then analyzed to indicate promising avenues of approach to obtain significant improvement in reliability and long-life operation and to reduce the probability of similar failures.
Specific areas where significant improvements are suggested are: tube line installations, connections, and supports; use of modularization and manifolding; elimination of air, moisture and other contaminants from the fluid through improved ground servicing and continuous removal during flight; improvements in seal design and installation.
