The need for a compatible military commercial system in order to provide aircraft interchange capability between the two operations, which could be realized without major modification to the handling system or to the aircraft, became apparent in 196l.
The author deals with the engineering know-how that went into the development of this system. He concludes that development was successful, proved by the subsequent introduction of other commercial aircraft loading systems.
