Application of the GEM Concept to the Amphibious Support Mission 650217
The results of a recently completed test of the VA-3 air cushion vehicle are reviewed. Special emphasis was placed in this test program on the evaluation of air cushion vehicles (ACV's) for missions in an amphibious assault. An insight to the feasibility of this concept of their utilization may be obtained not only from these test results but from the definitive 5-ton payload ACV design study also presented as part of this paper.
