Accelerated Testing of Loaders and Backhoes 650703
This paper covers the devices and methods necessary to conduct accelerated laboratory and field tests of loaders and backhoes, the objective being to determine critical areas for improved design under a program utilizing peak pressures and load conditions not to exceed maximum loads encountered under actual working field conditions.
Several phases of the accelerated program carried out by the Farm Equipment Research and Engineering Center of International Harvester Co. are described, including stress analysis, use of histograms, loader and backhoe testing by means of a cycle stand, ram tests to simulate shock loading, and various swing and shaker loading tests.
