Experimental Determination of the Velocity and Pressure Profiles in the Combustion Zone in a Model of a Gas Turbine Combustion Chamber 670201
One of the still undecided questions concerning the aerodynamics of the flow in gas turbine combustion chambers is the extent of the similarity between the flow patterns in the chamber under cold flow and combustion conditions. This investigation reports on the experimental measurements of the velocity and the static pressure profiles in the combustion zone in a model of a gas turbine combustion chamber under atmospheric conditions. The results are analyzed to establish the extent of the similarity between cold flow and combustion profiles. The shape and size of the flow reversal zone under both conditions are also discussed.
