Foundation Air Brake Performance at Low Operating Pressures 700513

Truck air brake performance at low operating pressures is important to the owner because it represents the service range representative of the greatest amount of use. This paper presents the factors involved and the results to be expected from the most commonly used brakes on line haul trucks in current use. Included are representative input-output curves of the brakes.
From a safety standpoint maximum performance at rated load is of paramount importance but service life is determined by balance at low operating pressures.
