This paper deals with the complete primary steering system and also brings into focus an approach to the current industry need for a back-up, or secondary steering system. The individual components of both primary and secondary steering systems are discussed in detail from a design and functional standpoint. The overall system performance is then discussed to identify clearly the various component functions and relationships.
