Dynamic Behavior of a 140,000 rpm 3 kw Turbo-Alternator Simulator on Resiliently Mounted Ball Bearings 770282

This paper represents the results of rotor dynamic and limited endurance tests performed on resiliently mounted 10 mm bore ball bearings supporting a test vehicle designed to dynamically simulate a 3 KW Turbo-alternator rotor operating at 140,000 rpm. Squirrel cage and “O” ring type bearing supports were employed in two separate tests. The accumulated total test time was 4,500 hours. Upon completion of the testing the ball bearings appeared to be still in excellent condition.
