Experimental Work of High Speed and Highly Supercharged Two - Cycle Diesel Engine for Combat Vehicle 800963

This paper describes the results of research of the improvement of combustion behaviour and raising the output power of a highly supercharged 2 cycle diesel engine. Performance data has been obtained with a full scale single cylinder experimental engine to correlate the air flow patterns in the transparent full scale cylinders.
As a result the net power has increased 1.8 to 2.0 times that of the original supercharged engine. These data should be useful for development of high speed smaller and higher performance engine. This engine could be developed for future use in heavy combat vehicles which would be operated under much more severe conditions.
