Advanced Generating System Technology 811084

Considerable improvements in specific output of 400 Hz aircraft A C Generators have been achieved during 30 years of developments. Maximum specific output is achieved by means of the 24000 rpm 2-pole generator but significant design problems have hitherto prevented implementation of this approach. This paper describes a unique design approach to the solution of these problems and how further reductions of weight and volume have been achieved in integration with and simplification of the associated hydromechanical transmission. Associated with this is the enhancement of the allied control equipment technology by the incorporation of microprocessors.
