The Increase of Truck Tractional Resistance When Driving on Curves 845103

The worldwide effort to reduce the fuel consumption of vehicles leads to a minimisation of all driving resistances. A simulation model to obtain these resistances is introduced. The calculation is based on the simulation of steady state cornering for two- and three-axle trucks. An extensive research program with improved coast-down testing serves to check the computer model. Data reading on vehicle during measuring and data transfer to digital computer is controlled by a microprocessor. The research and evaluation methods, the research and computer results, as well as their comparison and the effect on fuel consumption of trucks are discussed.
