A recently developed quick action coupler concept has gained much attention for use as a diagnostic access port in hydraulic systems. Designed to meet the demanding service requirements of modern off-road earth-moving equipment, it also incorporates special features not found in standard quick action couplers. This paper reviews the need for these features and outlines the design steps and test methods used to meet these needs.
