Mercedes-Benz Multifunction Engine Control System 860481

A Multifunction Engine Control System (MF-ECS) has been developed. MF-ECS calibrates air-fuel ratio, ignition timing, idle speed and comprises all necessary programs and data to operate either in closed-loop mode with a TWC-exhaust system or in open-loop mode without catalyst, using corresponding fuels, in order to meet varying European exhaust emission legislation with the same car and hardware. Operation mode selection is achieved by externally coding the system in the car at the end of the production line or in the service shop. Coding is done by connecting a multi-resistance-plug in the correct position as a cable terminal.
