Couplings: The Effects of Torsional Vibration and Pump Spline Wear 861305

During normal operation, diesel engines and electric motors often face a serious unseen problem: vibration and reaction forces produced by conditions of misalignment, RPM, and transmission of torque. Vibration and misalignment forces can literally destroy parts within both the driver and driven equipment. Broken shafts, fretted splines, bearing failure, and seal leakage are all common problems caused by these factors. The answer, however, may be simply the addition of a flexible coupling.
