Abstract:
The manipulator subsystem, an anthropomorphic device, has been analysed in terms of Features and characteristics that are peculiar to its application. Extensive preflight analysis and testing (
Fig. #1
) using various finite analysis methods, computer programs, and techniques (
Appendix A
) has satisfied the unique and stringent constraints the remote manipulator system is required to operate under (
Appendix B
). The system is the pioneer of the space payload transportation system. Future generations will satisfy a diversity of needs through variations of design. Employment of this system will, through time, dictate the tolerances that may be relaxed or tightened.
