On High-Speed Data Bus Performance Analysis 872496

Many papers are being written and designs art being justified bused in a large part on average bus throughput analysis. This paper will examine the adequacy of using average throughput analysis in determining the relative performance of HSDB networks. Using analytical means, the performance of four different linear bus implementations and the SAE ring bus are examined in terms of low to moderate, high, and worst case throughput delays, and theoretical maximum throughput. It will show that factors that have major impact on some of these characteristics do not have major impact on others.
