Fms - Focused Lines for Motorcycle Engine Parts Machining - Introduction of Cylinder Head Processing Line 891364

In order to efficiently meet diversified and varied needs from users, production lines with high flexibility are being rapidly developed and constructed in the motorcycle industry.
Kawasaki has been introducing FMS-focused lines using a column-feed machining center (NC special-purpose machine) for the past few years into the engine parts machining lines.
One key to improving the line operation rate is to shorten setup time so that small-lot production of multiple models and just-in-time production will be achieved.
This paper describes a line recently introduced for machining cylinder heads, one of the major parts of engines, and refers to preliminaries aimed at application of CIM to the line.
