SIMULTANEOUS ENGINEERING 9000 SERIES COMBINES BEST IN CLASS 891407

This paper will discuss how the new 9000 Series combine line was developed using an integrated approach that includes multiple disciplines. The simultaneous engineering team included not only the product and manufacturing engineers working together during the design stage, but factory operators and supervisors as well. The report covers the project from its inception to the start-up of production on the factory floor. Many benefits to the project were realized as a result of the simultaneous engineering approach. The new line of combines was introduced in January 1989.
