Potential for Lost Motion Electronic Valve Timing 901155

Due to the strong influence of valve motion on the performance of diesel and spark ignition engines, engine designers have historically designed valve motion to suit their engines' application. This paper describes the electronically controllable system of valve actuation developed by Siemens Automotive, presents some performance predictions and results, and discusses some of the real life aspects of component performance requirements. The action of this system is referred to as electronic valve timing (EVT).
