A New Generation in Window Encapsulation 910754

A novel approach for imparting weather stability to encapsulated glass parts is discussed in this paper. This system (CAPS) was developed to meet customer demands for cost and quality improvements.
The manufacture of encapsulated parts using CAPS is discussed. Also, the tests completed to insure that CAPS meets the demanding scrutiny of the automotive community are outlined. Tests include accelerated weathering, real time weathering, physical properties, adhesion and atmospheric cycling to demonstrate that this process is capable of withstanding the rigorous world of transportation.
Conclusions reached from the discussion include:
  1. 1.
CAPS provides a high-quality encapsulated glass assembly.
  2. 2.
This system offers excellent cost reduction opportunities.
  3. 3.
It is ideally suited for parts requiring single-sided decorating.
  4. 4.
CAPS provides distinction through color and texture.
