Abstract:
The brake performance envelope between heavy vehicles in combination on New Zealand roads is very large and the reasons are many.Recent legislative changes to allow 44 tonne Gross Combination Mass were accompanied by a demand from the authorities for more uniform brake performance from vehicles in combination. The 1991 NZHVBC is based on unprecedented control of brake threshold as one of two main constituents to improve compatibility.
