The results of a study carried out for developing Expert Systems for the trouble-shooting and the diagnostics of Auxiliary Power Units (A.P.U.) are presented.
The problems linked to the construction of reliable Knowledge Bases are described.
The paper shows that qualitative Knowledge Base may be developed by experience or by overhaul manuals.
Moreover the potentialities of the APU simulation for setting-up quantitative and complete Knowledge are discussed.
Successively the work done for developing Expert Systems based on both types of Knowledge Base are presented.
Finally the results of the code applications are presented.
